Sure, you know how to counsel... but do you know how to run a business? Come join us as we learn from the successes and challenges experienced by a range of LMHCs in private practice. Topics to be covered include getting established, marketing strategies, billing/insurance, finding your niche, and the risks and rewards of venturing out on your own. Q&A to follow. Panelists will include:

Joan S. Ingalls, LMHC who has been in private practice for over 30 years and maintains a private practice in Greenwich Village. She has specialties in sport counseling and group therapy. Her work is radically relational, philosophical, and developmental.

Katherine Schafler, LMHC who splits her time between running her own private practice and being an in-house therapist for Google.  Katherine also writes a mental health blog and has been featured as an emotional health expert in several mainstream publications, including ELLE, Good Housekeeping, MSN, Yahoo Health, TeenVogue, Fast Company, Psychology Today, Elite Daily, and several others. 

Joanna Cortes-Agnello, LMHC has been in the counseling field for over eleven years. She has worked with various populations specializing in individual work with adults and with therapeutic interventions with children and adolescents. In addition to providing mental health counseling services through her private practice, Joanna works for the City University of New York as a licensed mental health professional and as a lecturer teaching psychology in the Behavioral Sciences Department. Joanna specializes in individual, relationship counseling and EMDR therapy. In addition, Joanna specializes in anxiety disorders, difficult life transitions, grief counseling and adolescent issues.

Tania Punjabi Suarez, LMHC previously had a successful 10+ year career in marketing and advertising, however always felt a passion toward psychology and helping others. She could no longer ignore this interest and started on a path toward getting her Masters in Mental Health Counseling from the Fordham Graduate School of Education in New York City.  In addition to her private practice, Tania Punjabi Suarez, MSEd, LMHC, NCC also dedicates her time to facilitating various support groups at Gilda’s Club, a Cancer Support Community, and conducts individual therapy at Community Counseling & Mediation, serving multicultural populations that don’t always have access to mental health care.  


Aditi Vidayasagar, LMHC works in private practice as a psychotherapist in NYC, primarily serving clients with cross-cultural and multi-layered identities. A graduate of Columbia University (Masters-Psychological Counseling) and the University of Oxford UK (Masters-Anthropology), she is a licensed mental health counselor in New York and Washington States.
